About Journey to ExSCellence
The mission of Journey to ExSCellence is to invest in direct services and programs that enhance the quality of life for adult Sickle Cell Warriors and their caregivers. We aim to bridge the gap between awareness and advocacy by offering direct support to those affected by Sickle Cell Disease.
Our vision is for every Sickle Cell Warrior to receive the
medical, social, financial, and professional services
needed to alleviate external stressors that negatively
impact their daily lives.
What is Sickle Cell?
Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited and life-threatening disorder where red blood cells become hard, sticky, and deformed like sickles used to cut wheat. These “sickled” cells clog small blood vessels and break apart. This can cause excruciating pain, stroke, organ damage, and anemia.
